Namaskaram,
This week we are looking at multiplication. Multiplication is basically repeated addition. We can find the answer to a multiplication problem by skip counting. For example:
John has 3 ponds and there are 2 fish in each pond. How many fish are there altogether?"
We can skip count 2 , 4 , 6.
There are 6 fish in the pond.
Here is one problem for you to solve. You can use whichever strategy you know.
Farmer Brown has 4 paddocks and in each paddock there are 2 sheep. How many sheep are there altogether?
the answer is 2 will go in the first paddock 2 in the other paddock 2 will go in another paddock another 2 more will go in the last paddock.
ReplyDelete2 will go in each paddock
ReplyDeleteThe answer is 8 because 2 plus 2 plus 2 plus 2 equals 8. So there are 8 sheep in Farmer Brown's paddock.
ReplyDelete4 paddocks and in each paddock there are 2 sheep so altogether there are 8 sheep because 4 X 2 is 8.

If there are 2 sheep in each paddock we can count in two's. 2,4,6,8.

so there is 4 paddocks each sheep is in 4 paddocks now i have to skip count 2 4 6 8
ReplyDeleteanswer is 8
4 x 2 = 8 is how i got the answer is because i used my place value

the answer is 8 because you could skip count in 2's 2,4,6,8 or you can do 4 times 2 = 8
