Kia Ora,
Room 13 has been learning problem solving in maths. Here are the steps in problem solving.
Step 1 :Read the problem carefully
Step 2: Underline the facts needed to solve the problem.
Step 3: Draw a picture, if needed to help solve  the problem.

The sentence in red is a statement. It gives us information or facts we need to know to answer the question.
The sentence in blue  is a question.

5 apples plus 3 apples equals 8 apples

5 + 3 = 8

Some problem solving questions to try:

1. Kiara has 4 balls in her bag. Mela gives her another four balls. How many balls does Kiara have now?

2. Meeta eats 6 pies. Then she eats another three more pies. How many pies has Meeta eaten altogether?
